Stopmotion Rotation

During my first week in the studio I learnt how to explore stop-motion animation using abstract animation methods. We used lots of small pieces of shredded paper to build objects and then used dragonframe to create stopmotion.

Select a film from the IMDB list in the reference bar of the padlet.
We chose metrix because it is a classic film and all the group members could be well involved in it. After deliberating, we decided to make a short animated sequence of the most classic bullet time. We used Play-Doh to make the bullets, so as to avoid any hand shake during the manipulation that would affect the overall bullet position, because if light pieces of paper were used as bullets, it would be easy for a little bump to cause a shift in position.

I was very happy with my idea when creating the stop-motion about the moon, I connected the moon to the sponge , because the two things have a lot of similarities, and linked the dishwashing sponge to the moon to complete a story about using the moon to wash dishes.

We chose to use black tape all over the backdrop to give the stop-motion animation more detail in the material, and I learnt that animation is formed from frame by frame, not just animation, but any image.

In future projects I think a combination of stop-motion and 2D-3D animation could be a good way forward.
