This is a more personal project for me, at first I was thinking about what I’m not used to about living in London, so I thought about the roar of cars, the shrill sirens and the ear-splitting smoke alarms, things I wouldn’t face in my own country.
So I wanted to make an animation related to myself, I am a kind of Chinese, in China everyone has a zodiac sign, 12 zodiac signs correspond to 12 years, every 12 years a cycle, I am a rabbit, I wanted to put myself as the main character in this project, so I wanted to design a rabbit character to represent these sounds I experienced in a foreign country.

in the early stage, about the design of the animated character

in the early stage, about the storyboard

black, white and grey background,to show the light and shadow

The two characters, rabbit(me)and the lion (fireman)

This is the first time I’ve drawn a very standard perspective background, and the first time I’ve drawn a detailed background for an animation, again I’m using a lot of textures and short lines to make the background look richer.

Add the figures and some flames of light and shadow to the background to see the approximate rendering.

I tried a lot of big perspective walking and exaggerated deformation to show the charm of animation, through this assignment let me draw walking running and jumping related animation performances again, and thoroughly master the most basic things of animation (including fire, smoke, wind, rain animation methods)
This was also my first attempt at animating a camera that was going to move, and animating a camera that was going to move required a larger background image, and taught me a lot.
