Out of your head

The whole animation I used Clip Studio Paint to complete, this is the first time I use this software, because I found that in photoshop, the lack of onion skin function very affected my production process

I discovered in an accidental import of a Clip Studio Paint file into photoshop that photoshop had put all the layers together for me. This mistake allowed me to discover these two wonderful line pictures.

I designed two sets of movements with my group’s character design, the back of the walking wizard and the animation of the fallen wizard standing up. These two parts correspond to the beginning and the end in the story version, which was a huge challenge for me because the complex movements and the huge perspective changes were the problems I needed to solve.

For my animate part, I chose 12 frames for the clip, but even if it wasn’t 24 frames, it was still a huge amount of work. It took me 20 minutes just to color one frame, not counting sketching and cleaning up the lines, which shows how hard I worked on this part of the animation.

In the process of walking, I thought of the animation 12 principles, a movement is very direct action is also some arc, so that the animated character can be more vivid, especially I in animate the witch twisted to look at the mirror in this part, although it is to look to the right, but to the right before twisting the head there must be some tendency to the left.

The walking process is also a very important part of the upper body hand movement and alternation.

The character design gave me a difficult costume. Walking in high heels is very different from walking in regular flats, and I even went to borrow a pair of real women’s high heels to observe its perspective before I could finally finish the animation on the witch’s feet.

For the change of perspective in the process of standing, many details cannot be vividly shown by imagination alone. I shot a video of me standing after falling to the ground, treating myself as a fat witch and referring to this part of the video before finally completing the witch’s standing action.
